Cookie Policy

How this website uses necessary browser storage and optional analytics cookies, and how you can manage your choice.

Last updated: 14 September 2026

1. About this policy

This Cookie Policy explains how Placement Findr Limited uses cookies and similar storage technologies on https://www.placementfindr.org.uk/.

Cookies are small text files stored on a device. Similar technologies, including browser local storage, can also store information on a device and are covered by the same transparency and consent approach where applicable.

2. Our approach

We use a simple two-category model:

  • Necessary — storage required to provide core website functionality and remember your privacy choice
  • Analytics — optional Google Analytics storage used to understand how the website is used

Analytics is off by default.

We do not load Google Analytics or set Google Analytics cookies until you actively select Accept analytics.

Selecting Reject analytics, ignoring the banner, browsing the site or closing the interface does not enable analytics.

3. Necessary storage

The website currently uses browser local storage to remember your analytics preference.

Necessary browser storage used by Placement Findr
Storage keyTypePurposeDuration
placement-findr-consentFirst-party browser local storageRemembers whether analytics was accepted or rejected and the current consent-policy versionRemains on the device until changed, cleared or superseded by a new consent version

This storage is necessary so the website can remember and respect your privacy choice. It does not contain your name, contact details or browsing history.

4. Analytics cookies

If you accept analytics and a Google Analytics measurement ID is configured, the website loads Google Analytics 4.

Google Analytics may set the following first-party cookies:

Optional Google Analytics cookies
CookieProviderPurposeDefault expiry
_gaGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes users using a pseudonymous identifierUp to 2 years
_ga_<measurement-id>Google AnalyticsMaintains session stateUp to 2 years

Browser and platform restrictions may shorten these periods.

Placement Findr's GA4 user and event retention setting is 14 months. This data-retention setting is separate from browser cookie expiry.

The current Placement Findr implementation does not use Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, advertising personalisation, user-provided-data features or application user IDs.

5. What analytics collects

When analytics is accepted, Google Analytics may collect information including:

  • pages visited and pathname
  • number of users and sessions
  • approximate geolocation
  • browser and device information
  • pseudonymous client or session identifiers
  • fixed, non-identifying lead-conversion events for successful commercial enquiries

Placement Findr's analytics implementation is designed not to send submitted form values or identifying information such as names, emails, telephone numbers, addresses, postcodes, organisation names entered by a visitor, free-text messages, service-user references, CRM IDs, attachment IDs or detailed placement/property requirements.

6. Why we use analytics

We use analytics to understand overall website use, identify which pages and service journeys are useful, measure successful website enquiries at an aggregate level, and improve the website.

The lawful basis for setting or accessing optional analytics storage and processing analytics through this website is your consent.

7. Managing your choice

When you first visit the website you can choose Accept analytics or Reject analytics.

You can change your decision at any time using the Cookie settings control in the website footer.

If you revoke analytics consent, the website stops future Placement Findr analytics activity and attempts to remove known Google Analytics first-party cookies associated with the site.

You can also delete cookies and local storage using your browser settings.

8. Google Analytics and international processing

Google Analytics is provided by Google. Analytics information may be processed in countries outside the UK.

Where international processing occurs, the relevant data-protection transfer safeguards used by Google and Placement Findr apply as required by UK law. See the Privacy Policy for our general international-transfer approach.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if the technologies used by the website change, if we add or remove analytics or services, or if legal requirements change.

If we introduce a new non-essential category or materially change how optional storage is used, we will update the consent controls and seek fresh consent where required.
